Wedding Questions

Wedding Questions: in the section “Get Those Quotes” how and who to approach was discussed. However, having found a supplier it is necessary to know the questions to ask not only to finalise your deal, but also in order to be able to work with them and get the best results. Do not sign a contract unless you are satisfied that all your requirements have been met.

Pre-Selection Wedding Questions:

You may find some of the following helpful, although not applicable in all instances:

- ask to see firms/companies credentials, e.g. membership of professional body, relevant guild, portfolio with names and contacts of testimonials
- check any appropriate quality assurance and health & safety documents
- ask for any literature about their company, check them out on the web, ask questions on chat forums regarding people’s experiences using them
- ask if they are familiar with your wedding venue and reception
- ask for a written quote
- check the companies/persons name against any “blacklists”, e.g. credit, bankruptcy, fraud, etc.
- ask for a copy of their policies and procedures

Wedding Questions Post-Selection:

Having chosen the agent/supplier, you may find some of the following helpful, although not applicable in all circumstances:

- are you familiar with my wedding venue, reception, route, etc.?
- if not will you be familiar with ….. prior to my wedding day?
- what is the best location for ………. ? (photographs, table settings, dance floor, etc.)
- what style of ……………. do you specialize in/prefer? (catering, photography, videography, music, entertainment)
- what equipment do you have at your disposal?
- can I listen to a rehearsal/have a tasting or sampling/have a private viewing?
- do you include a dress rehearsal in your costs?
- have you a wet weather back up plan?
- what is the latest date for the finalization of numbers?
- what are the payment terms?
- will the deposit be returned if the wedding is cancelled?
- what do you charge for overtime?
- what penalties are incurred for last minute alterations?
- how will you be dressed/what will the wait staff be dressed in/etc.?
- what choices are available for guests? (diets, music requests, children, etc.)
- can I supply …………… ? (wine, decorations, music)
- are there any complimentary gifts/extras?
- for disabled/wheel chair bound guests what provisions are there for ………. ? (access, seating, rest rooms)
- will I have your/your group/the venues exclusive use on my wedding day?
- what provisions will you be making for my and my guests absolute comfort?

DIY Wedding Questions Tips:

From these wedding questions hopefully many more will be triggered. Use these as a basis to compile your own list for each aspect of your wedding. When meeting with the various professionals/suppliers take someone with you. Make sure your friend, mum and/or dad, have a copy of the questions you intend to ask. Request that they make a note of the responses or decisions agreed upon. Finally, never be afraid to ask questions. The only stupid question, is a question not asked!
