Wedding Make Up Some Hot Tips Every Bride Should Follow

Here are some wedding make up tips which all Brides’ to be should consider. Being the centre of attention is not always everybody’s idea of fun, so give your self- confidence a boost and know that you are a beautiful person both inside and out.

1. It is essential to follow a basic skin care programme. If prone to breakouts start your facials at least 2 months prior to the date of your wedding. Establish a nail care regime with manicures. You may wish to consider false nails, or silk wraps to protect your own. If prone to cold sores start a lip care treatment to prevent eruptions.

2. For your wedding make up consider having a make-up artist. You can search for one in the Yellow Pages, on the internet, in bridal magazines, or ask your hairdresser for a recommendation. If all else fails try the large department stores make-up counters or ask at your local pharmacy/chemist.

3. In choosing a make-up artist: consider the cost, their experience, how punctual they are and if they adhere to safe and hygienic practices. Ask to see pictures (before and after shots) of their work. Find out if they do home visits. Would they visit your hairdressers (the lighting and opportunity for a final hair touch-up is an advantage).

4. In deciding upon your wedding make up “look”: you will need to consider the time of the ceremony. A more natural lighter make-up is recommended for the day, whilst a more dramatic make-up is recommended for the night. Lighting plays an important part in the choice of application, especially for photographs, so consider also whether the ceremony is inside or outside. Finally consider how long it needs to last and any touch-ups required.

5. Always have a trial make-up session. Consider whether using the artists brand or your own. Discuss the best ways to deal with skin problems or allergies. Use colours that compliment your dress and flowers. Warm neutral tones for a natural look are often advisable.

6. Make-up order: if there are several in your bridal party the Bridesmaids should have their make-up done first, followed by the mother of the bride and the Bride last. This is to ensure the Bride’s make-up looks the freshest.

7. Home v Salon: as with your hair, whether or not the make-up artist comes to your home will depend upon space, numbers involved and location. Particularly important is good natural light.

8. Check your make-up artist’s availability. The trail should be done by the same person who is doing your make-up on your wedding day.

9. If using the artist’s cosmetics: ensure you have purchased some, or have some samples, to touch-up your lip-stick etc. during your wedding day. Also, do not forget your perfume – a miniature bottle would be easier to carry.

10. Finally do not go rushing around: getting sweaty, or too emotional! You need to preserve your make-up as best as you can!
