Royal And Celebrity Wedding Menus

Royal And Celebrity Wedding Menus: what do the A list choose for their wedding menus? What do they serve their guests to drink? Who are the celebrity caterers? Who are the Royal Chefs and Caterers? What are some of the problems faced? What are the stars favourite dishes? When money is no problem and every whim can be indulged, what do the A list do?

Royal And Celebrity Wedding Menus, Chefs and Caterers:

The Royal Kitchens, headed by Lionel Mann and Caterers “Rhubarb Food Design” were jointly responsible for Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones wedding feast for 550 guests. Their wedding menu was as follows:

Coulibiac
(Smoked haddock baked with rice and mushrooms in pastry)
Beef Stroganoff
Selection of Vegetables
Selection of Salads
Fresh Raspberries

The produce, I have no doubt, would have been grown in the royal gardens. As for the Wedding Cake it was made by Linda Fripp of “Upper Crusts Country Kitchen” in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

Royal And Celebrity Wedding Menus, Incorporating Favourite Dishes:

Some of the A list insist upon the Chefs incorporating their favourite dishes into their wedding menu, for example David Beckham had sticky toffee pudding. Other stars favourite dishes include:

- Mary Quant: mushroom hors d-oeuvres
- Barbara Cartland: “cool oasis” – cucumber and yoghurt soup
- Roman Polanski: chlodnik
- Crown Princess Marie Aglae of Liechtenstein: Bulgarian tarator (yoghurt soup)
- Sophia Loren: pasta and potato soup
- Margaret Thatcher: sole Veronique
- J.B. Priestley: sole marrakesh
- Ingrid Bergman: trout with cream sauce
- Elizabeth Taylor: haricots verts
- George McGovern: imperial chicken
- Princess Grace of Monaco: pissaladiere
- Julie Andrews: sunshine salad
- Roger Moore: chocolate refrigerator cake
- Sacha Distel: apricot fancies

Problems Associated With Royal And Celebrity Wedding Menus:

The major problem is serving hot food to 500 – 1,500 people in a timely manner. To do so may involve literally hundreds of wait staff. The menus usually reflect food that may be prepared before hand and recipes that do not “spoil” for being kept under/on a hot plate. A vegetarian choice is usually included and the menu may reflect local specialties, or incorporate menus reflecting the couple’s backgrounds.

For example, in 1986 Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver were married. They held their rehearsal dinner at a local country club where dishes were chosen to reflect their Austrian and Cape Cod backgrounds. Their wedding reception menu included:

Cocktails
Oyster, Lobster
Chicken Breasts with Champagne Sauce
Seasonal Vegetables
Wedding Cake (7’ tall)

Danny Moder and Julia Roberts chose food that reflected their wedding day – July 4th 2002. No American Independence Day would be complete without hotdogs and hamburgers. They also had caterers, “The Wooden Spoon”, who provided an alternative:

Lemon Chicken
Steak Shish Kebabs
Corn-on-the-Cob
Layer Cakes
(chocolate & raspberry and lemon flavours)

In 2005, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles chose:

Smoked Salmon on Brown Bread
Roast Venison
