- if hiring a marquee is out of the question and the weather forecast is fine, hold your feast under the stars
- alternatively you may be able to borrow a gazebo type tent to use as a center focal point for the bride and groom to sit beneath. For seating use carpet remnants, old blankets, etc, and have a collection of scatter cushions. Food may be served upon mats or trays.

- search through magazines and start a scrapbook of ideas

- find out the availability of various products you may wish to purchase
- look into possible venues and amenities available
- check for venues rules/regulations and if permits are required e.g. for a fire
