- seek approval from your local county council, shire, or regulatory authority

- ensure the fireworks meet your countries safety regulation standards
- ensure that you have the appropriate insurance in the case of accidents, etc.
- upon receipt of the box, ensure it is kept dry, preferably in a locked storeroom until required for use

Prior to the event you should take the following safety steps:
- inform neighbours, local landowners, particularly those with animals, that it is your intention to hold a firework display
- ensure all animals are either housed, or removed to alternative grazing
- ensure any objects that may easily ignite through falling sparks are remove
- ensure grass is mown short and all cuttings removed
- erect a safety barrier for guests to stand behind
- appoint a person to be responsible for the fireworks, preferably someone who does not drink
- appoint a person in charge of crowd control, perhaps a job for the ushers and/or best man
- in case of fire have a fire extinguisher and buckets of sand to hand
- in case of any accidents have a first aid kit to hand
The Day Of Your DIY Wedding Fireworks:
When informing guests of any domestic arrangements at your wedding reception, also inform them of the firework display. In the interests of everyone’s safety request that they do not go beyond the safety barrier. Ask that junior guests and junior members of the bridal party are under the supervision of their parents, or other responsible adult, for the display.
