A DIY Manicure And Pedicure: is a tremendous way to pamper yourself and at the same time relieve some of the wedding stress. Why not invite your Chief Bridesmaid or Bridesmaids around to treat yourselves to a little luxury. You can then take it in turns to assist each other to put the finishing touches to your manicure and pedicure. After all, your hands will be on show – everyone will want to admire your new wedding band along with your engagement ring.
DIY Manicure And Pedicure
You will need to have to hand, acquire or purchase the following:
Large plastic bowl
(or foot spa if you have one, if not perhaps you can borrow one)
Small bowls (or finger bowls)
Warm water
Aromatherapy oils for pedicure optional
Exfoliant
Moisturising cream
Cotton wool (and cotton buds)
Towels
Nail polish remover
Nail Polish
Nail-brush
Nail clippers/nail scissors
Emery board (if possible a pumice stone also)
DIY Manicure And Pedicure: Step 1
- first remove your ‘old’ polish before your manicure and pedicure. Then commence with your pedicure first.
- fill your bowl, or foot spa, with warm water adding a few drops of aromatherapy relaxation oils if you wish
- having soaked your feet, dry them thoroughly
- take it in turn to massage each others feet using some moisturizer, working from the toes towards the ankles
- remove any oil from your toenails with nail polish remover
- smooth any rough patches with a pumice stone or emery board
- clip your toenails straight across and file edges smooth
- push back your cuticles using a cotton bud
- apply nail polish first separating your toes with some cotton wool

- whilst your toenails are drying commence with your manicure
- file nails to your desired shape
- massage in some moisturizer or cuticle cream
- soak nails for a few minutes in warm soapy water
- ensure any dirt under the nails is removed with a nail-brush
- gently push back cuticles using a cotton bud
- apply nail polish
Tips For Your Manicure And Pedicure:
Since nails take roughly six weeks to grow there are no quick fixes. It is best to start your nail regime several months before your wedding manicuring “little and often”. If your lifestyle makes this impossible you may consider having false nails applied.
