DIY Facials
DIY Facials: are another way not only to reduce your wedding budget, but also a great way to relax, revitalize yourself and de-stress from all the wedding preparations. It is also something fun which you may wish to do with your chief bridesmaid. However, how do you go about preparing and giving yourself a facial?
DIY Facials: Step 1
Prior to starting you will need to prepare some ingredients. I suspect you will have the ingredients in your kitchen. If not your shopping list should include:
Facemask:
Avocado (one per person)
Cucumber (two slices each)
Tea bags (two per person)
Ensure your face has been cleansed of make-up. Mash the avocado in a bowl, slice two pieces of cucumber and immerse two teabags in hot water then squeeze out the excess water. Rub the avocado onto your face, leaving the eyes clear. Put the two teabags over your closed eyes for a few minutes. (Tea is a mild astringent and will cool and relax the eyes.) Then place the cucumber slices over each eye. Lie back and relax. Wash everything off after ten minutes.
An alternative fact mask: whisk 1 egg white with 1 tsp (5 ml) of vitamin C powder. Apply to face. Rinse off after 10 minutes. Or apply mayonnaise to your face. Again wash off after 10 minutes.
DIY Facials: Step 2
Using your moisturizer begin your face massage. Always start with the lower part of the face, first having warmed your moisturizer in your hands. Always work upwards and outwards as follows:
- start with the base of your throat, working your hands up toward your chin and outwards towards your ears
- gently “slap” the under part of your chin (to help firmness)
- make circular movements from your chin up towards your nose, finishing with an outward stroke over your cheeks
- alternate both hands over your cheeks in an upward motion (taking each cheek in turn)
- using both hands stroke up the center of the nose and between the eyebrows, smoothing out over the brow
- make circular movements over your brow
DIY Facials: Tips
It is not a good idea to give yourself a facial the night before your wedding. If you do not have facials on a regular basis, in some instances the pore cleansing and stimulus can cause a break out of your skin.
When giving yourself a DIY Facial it is better to use natural products. Particularly if your skin is sensitive avoid chemicals and do not leave your facemask on as long as someone with non-sensitive skin.
Finally, always avoid the eye areas. Never use aromatherapy oils around the eyes. Prior to your wedding is not the time to try out new products. Stick with the tried and tested as you may be certain of the effects to and results they have on your skin.
